Best known for her creative work with gifted children, Darlene Freeman has won a number of prestigious national and international awards for her exceptional teaching methods and outstanding curriculum design. A former Hunter College Campus School teacher, she is included in Who’s Who in American Education and Who’s Who Among American Teachers and has presented papers and done consulting work both in the U.S. and abroad. She has also worked as an education specialist, designing and overseeing projects for some of the nation’s most innovative and inventive multi-media companies, including Scholastic, Disney and Lucasfilm.

Darlene’s extensive experience has led to her keen understanding of
the intellectual and emotional needs of gifted children. Her distinctive, dynamic teaching style, engaging sense of humor, and warm and caring approach provide her students with the foundation and confidence to create and achieve in ways they’d never imagined possible. She believes that only when children feel comfortable with themselves can they take
the imaginative leaps they are capable of making, and that recognizing and addressing their unique differences is as important as understanding the developmental similarities they share. For these reasons she works individually with students, customizing her sessions to meet the distinct needs, rhythms, idiosyncrasies and talents of each child.

The level of the work her students produce is evidence of Darlene’s
success as a teacher, as is their enthusiasm to re-enroll and return to the program year after year. Even as they enter their own adulthood, former students continue to stay in touch with her. Working with Darlene is an experience to remember!
